Tools for tracking net zero commitments

Climate Analytics and NewClimate Institute have collaborated on a climate action tracker rating forty countries on the sufficiency of their climate pledges and policies. A new tool evaluates the net zero targets of Parties [countries], and the introduction provides a very clear explanation of the challenges.

World Resource Institute [WRI]’s Climate Watch website assembles an enormous amount of information on Party [country] NDCs, and now features a tool for tracking net zero commitments through NDCs or high-level political pledge.

Oxford Net Zero and the UK advisory body Energy and Climate Intelligence Unit (ECIU) carried out a global survey of major emitters, big cities, and all companies in the Forbes Global 2000 list – a total of more than 4,000 entities in all. See the website and metrics here.

The MSCI Net-Zero Tracker communicates to investors on climate risk using a ‘net zero’ set of assumptions about remaining carbon budgets.  The Tracker includes a precise estimate of the time remaining before companies blow through the entirety of the remaining carbon budget to 1.5°C.
